Culburra House feels like a boutique resort, it’s very private and protected beachfront position & views are second to none.
The house has been meticulously designed with entertainment and fun in mind. The second you walk through the front the door into the open plan lounge, kitchen and dining room, the view will almost knock you over!
Ten meters of sliding glass doors open directly onto an enormous covered deck that spans the width of the house.
This combined floor area totals an enormous 90m2, all with soaring vaulted ceilings create an incredible open feeling and capturing the breath taking views of the beach, ocean and mountains.
Lounge & Dining
Has probably the most comfortable oversized ‘swallow me’ linen sofas you will ever experience.
These are perfectly positioned to enjoy the stunning view, 50″ TV with blue ray DVD player or our wonderful fireplace.
Build a roaring open fire or use as combustion for cozy winter warming and marshmallow toasting, plenty of firewood is included.
Deck, Fire Pit & BBQ
There’s a huge dining table, an almighty 5-burner Beefeater BBQ, bar fridge, pullout bin and drawer stocked with everything you will need to char grill to your heart’s content.
There’s also an overhead fan and light to make sure you stay cool and comfortable whilst keeping an eye out for the frequently passing whales during May to Aug and Oct to Dec, and settling for dolphins, waves and sunsets the rest of the year.
Is to-die-for, with commercial stainless steel benches, a huge 140cm double fridge, 120cm double gas oven with simmer plate that doubles for a fantastic wok burner, a huge amount of good quality pots, pans, knives and almost everything you could wish for in a kitchen, a double drawer dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine (so don’t forget to bring lots of capsules!)
There’s also a pantry stocked with the basics and a range of cleaning products. Next to this sits a big round dining table which seats 8, extending to 14.
We also have two beaches within a few seconds walk. As one of our guests quoted “You hear waves in stereo!” Directly in front is Tilbury Cove which is the most protected and safest part of Culburra Beach to swim, great for snorkeling and is also one of the best spots to free dive for lobster on the South Coast!!!
And just four houses down on the opposite side of the road is a path leading to Warrain Surf Beach.
So, if the waves on one beach are a little too big or small for your liking or it’s a bit blowy, you can always nip over to the other one!

Access to The Milson
The Milson is BOAT ONLY access.
If you don’t have your own boat you can hire a boat or tinny in Brooklyn or organise a local water taxi.
For a water taxi or to hire a tinny please call Neil at the Hawkesbury River Water Taxi. Neil will collect you from the jetty near the Brooklyn train station, a 10-minute boat ride, or the Deerrubin boat ramp at Mooney Mooney. It is only a 5-minute boat ride from the boat ramp and there is plenty of free and unlimited parking.
Hawkesbury River Water Taxi (Neil) – Mobile 0422 300 100
A water taxi will cost circa $180 return for 2 people (add $10 each way for each additional person). Water taxis typically run between 7 am – 8 pm although later pickups until 11 pm can be pre-arranged.
Neil also offers a package that includes a return water taxi trip for two people and a tinny with an outboard motor for the weekend for roughly $320 (limited number of boats so please book early to avoid missing out).
A number of the Brooklyn marinas also hire out motorboats, runabouts and tinny’s.
Please call the team at Sandbrook Marina.
Sandbrook Inlet Marina – Phone 02 9985 5500
Prices are based on 2 guests using 1 of the 2 bedrooms. If there are more than 2 guests, the charge for each extra guest is $50 per night.
All rooms come complete with bed linen and bath towels for each guest.
The Milson comes with wifi (signal is strong) and a UeBoom (bluetooth linked speaker) but does not have a TV, washing machine, or dryer.
Milsons Passage has no roads, no cars, no cafes, no shops. This is one of the reasons it is such a magical spot. And while the Milson has a very well-stocked pantry with all the basics, you will need to be organised and bring all your food for your stay.
Firewood is BYO or for an additional charge, we can arrange for a wood package to be delivered by our local woodcutter. He will also set up the fireplace ready to be lit.
Dogs are very welcome at The Milson.
The property has a lovely sandy beach and there are paths running along the river’s edge and behind the property so you can take your furry friends out for a walk.
Things to Do
Jetty & River
The Hawkesbury River is renowned for its fishing and crabbing. The Milson comes with a single and double canoe, a single kayak, life vests, paddles, crab pots, and a couple of fishing rods for you to use. Please don’t forget to bring your own tackle, hooks, and bait. NSW laws also require you to have a current recreational fishing license so please organise one before you arrive.
There are some fantastic bush walks around Milsons Passage and they start right at the back door. The views from the top of the hill behind The Milson are absolutely amazing.
There is also a secret lagoon for swimming at Bar Point when the weather heats up.
There is a number of well-known restaurants in the area including Peats Bite (02 9985 9040), The Berowa Waters Inn (02 9456 1027) and Life Boat Seafoods (02 9985 7510).
